Web log- Blog, Spam blog-Splog, Law blog-Blawg…
Having recently started my blogging pursuit, I was reading somewhere about “splog” and wondering what it exactly meant and so I went and googled the word and found that splog was basically a garbage website or sites which steal text/material from other sites or a site which has inauthentic text. More so that viewers can be induced to visit the site and click on the ads and the splogger can make money.
Now, wikipedia says there is a difference in “splog” from “spam in blog” and differentiates it as follows:
Splogs are blogs where the articles are fake, and are only created for search engine spamming. To spam in blogs, conversely, is to include random comments on the blogs of innocent bystanders, in which spammers take advantage of a site’s ability to allow visitors to post comments that may include links.
From web log it became blog, spam log became splog and law blog became blawg… I am sure there are a lot more out there that I am unaware of and surely will run into as I blawg more and more.
