India’s ITES-BPO growth

India’s ITES (IT enabled services) BPO (Business process outsourcing) exports grew to $8.4 billion in 2006-07 from $6.3 billion in 2005-06. To keep up with this trend just talent is not enough so NASSCOM (The National Association of Software and Services Companies) has been trying to keep up with the expectations of the corporate sector and now has announced a framework for the ITES and BPO’s to adopt ethical practices and corporate governance.

The goal is that the NASSCOM Assessment of Competance (NAC) will ensure a robust and continuous supply of talent for the IT industry. The reasons cited for this growth are that apart from the abundance of skilled people the factors that play an important role are quality and scaleable infrastructure, operational excellence, conducive business environment and the growing domestic BPO market.
